Obituary


Kendrick H. McFarlane was born in Trenton, New Jersey and was received into Heaven on March 18, 2015, at the age of 88 years. He was the son of Percival and Maud McFarlane.

A graduate of Trenton High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as a Pharmacist Mate. Upon discharge, he enrolled and graduated from Rutgers University with a BA in Economics. Kendrick H. McFarlane was born in Trenton, New Jersey and was received into Heaven on March 18, 2015, at the age of 88 years. He was the son of Percival and Maud McFarlane.

A graduate of Trenton High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as a Pharmacist Mate. Upon discharge, he enrolled and graduated from Rutgers University with a BA in Economics. He had the desire to enter the field of Education. He went to Temple University and graduated with a Masters of Education and began his new career of teaching. Because of his love of working with youngsters, he enjoyed coaching baseball and softball teams. Ken also loved playing golf and was thrilled when he made a "hole-in-one" on March 13, 1996. He also enjoyed watching sports of all kinds.

In 1954, he married Janet Stout of Langhorne, PA, and last October, they celebrated 60 years of happy marriage. He was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church. He is also survived by sons James (Helen) of Raleigh, NC, and Richard of Winston-Salem, NC, and daughter Nancy Fairbanks (Rodney) of Melbourne, FL. Also, granddaughter, Tiffany Peters (Ben) of Rockledge and grandsons, Scott (Natalie) of Raleigh and Samuel of Charlotte, NC. Additionally, one great-grandson, Deacon Peters, also many nieces and nephews.

There will be a visitation from 1-2pm on Sunday, March 22 followed by a celebration of his life at 2pm at the Life Event Center at Florida Memorial. Interment will take place in Florida Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made in his name to St Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
